The Monaghan GAA Perpetual Golf Classic, sponsored for a second year by McAree Engineering, Ballinode, was held in Rossmore Golf Course last Saturday. 70 teams took part and over 100 businesses and individuals sponsored tees and greens, raising money for the county senior footballers in their preparations for the June 21 Ulster semi-final against Fermanagh. Several of the Monaghan players took part, including Conor McManus, Dessie Mone, Dick Clerkin, Drew Wylie and Stephen Gollogly. Conditions worsened as the day went along, but that didn’t dampen spirits on an enjoyable day. ...

The second Monaghan GAA Perpetual Golf Classic will take place at Rossmore Golf Club this Saturday, May 30. The Golf Classic will once again raise money for the training fund of the county senior football team, whose win over Cavan means they are now preparing for another Ulster SFC semi-final between the winners of Sunday’s game between Fermanagh and Antrim. Every Thursday – from now to the end of the Summer – golfers can have a round and a grill for €20.00 at Rossmore Golf Club. The offer is up and running since last Thursday (April 16th) and has been the talk of the county town and further afield. The Golf Classic will be held in Rossmore Golf Club on Saturday, May 31 to raise money for the Monaghan senior footballers’ training fund.
