We’ve knocked on the door a few times, but this weekend Mannan Castle finally did it, we won the All-Ireland Miele Fourball Championship; the coveted green pennant and the Miele Cup are ours.

Spirits were high after our girls convincingly defeated Sligo in the semi-final. A wise team Captain Rosemary Barry sent her team home to sleep in their own beds Saturday night. But Rosemary was quick to produce the bottle of champagne to celebrate after their win over Laytown Bettystown Sunday afternoon.

Early on the matches were very tight, but I honestly believe that our girls wanted this title more. Well done, Louise Hanratty, Mary Cassidy, Mary MacNamee, Karen Forrester, Gill Rouiller, Teresa Butler, Rita O’Loughlin , Nuala Mulholland, number one sub Margaret Carroll, Team Captain Rosemary and her assistant Philomena Rogers, you girls played amazing golf.
