The Monaghan GAA Perpetual Golf Classic, sponsored for a second year by McAree Engineering, Ballinode, was held in Rossmore Golf Course last Saturday. 70 teams took part and over 100 businesses and individuals sponsored tees and greens, raising money for the county senior footballers in their preparations for the June 21 Ulster semi-final against Fermanagh. Conditions worsened as the day went along, but that didn’t dampen spirits on an enjoyable day. The overall winning men’s team was Terry and Craig Connolly, Colin Walker and Jim Keogh. All proceeds from the hole-in-one/nearest-the-pin competition go to Monaghan Hospice and the Ronald McDonald House charity, which supports ill children and their families.
