One hundred years ago in September 1916 a former Editor of The Northern Standard Lt TJ Kennedy was killed during the Battle of the Somme in the Great War.  His unit of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers was part of the 16th Irish Division involved in the capture of two French villages from the Germans.
