Residents of the national Tidy Towns title-winning village of Glaslough have successfully prevented the erect of a mobile phone mast in their midst. Locals brought forward a judicial review process and have been successful in having the planned 19.5-metre structure blocked. Exceedances for the pesticide MCPA have been detected in the public drinking water supplies in two different areas of Monaghan, Irish Water stated this week. MCPA is a commonly used herbicide present in many products used to control thistles, docks and rushes. The gift was a beautifully restored vintage cast iron platform weighing scales, originally made by W & T Avery.
