Saturday the 1st of February was a very poignant and special day for the Glaslough community as they received a very special gift. The gift was a beautifully restored vintage cast iron platform weighing scales, originally made by W & T Avery. The old railway scales were restored by the late Terence McCaul (Navan and Rockcorry, County Monaghan and it was Terence’s wish that the scales be gifted to the village of Glaslough. A celebratory atmosphere reigned at the Oakland Recreation Centre on Friday evening last when Monaghan Co Council accorded civic honour to the village of Glaslough on their national victory in the 2019 Tidy Towns contest. Jubilation, celebration and congratulation were general throughout Co Monaghan this week following the announcement on Monday that the North Monaghan village of Glaslough had been chosen as the overall winner of the national Tidy Towns competition for 2019. BD Foods (Barbarrie Duckling Limited) was established by the Bowe family in 1993.
