NO MAST IN GLASLOUGH! – JUDICIAL REVIEW VICTORY FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY

Residents of the national Tidy Towns title-winning village of Glaslough have successfully prevented the erect of a mobile phone mast in their midst. Locals brought forward a judicial review process and have been successful in having the planned 19.5-metre structure blocked. The initial planning application by Vodafone Ireland was refused by Monaghan Co Council, but this decision was overturned by An Bord Pleanála in an appeal hearing.

“I am delighted with the successful outcome to quash the decision,” stated solicitor Alan Wilkie of Wilkie & Flanagan Solicitors, who provided his legal services pro bono to the Glaslough community in their initiation of the judicial review. Local people established a No Mast campaign committee and supporting sub-committees which dedicated hours to fund-raising and legal investigation.
