Michael Fisher Transport Infrastructure Ireland has told Deputy Niamh Smyth that the Monaghan County Council project team working on two major road schemes for the N2 in the county are still available to meet individuals or representatives of groups who were unable to attend last year’s public consultation events on preferred routes. The minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys TD, has welcomed confirmation from Waterways Ireland that almost €7million in funding has been provided to progress three major greenway projects in Cavan and Monaghan in 2020. This Saturday the annual 1916 societies commemoration marking the 64 anniversary of the IRA’s Brookeborough RUC Station raid will take place at Altawalk cross situational between Brookeborough and Roslea. Hosted by the Matt Fitzpatrick 1916 Society Newtownbutler the commemoration takes place at 2.00pm and guest speaker this year will be Pól Ó Scanaill from Meath.
