€7MILLION IN FUNDING TO BE SPENT ON THREE LOCAL GREENWAY PROJECTS IN 2020 – MINISTER HUMPHREYS

The minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys TD, has welcomed confirmation from Waterways Ireland that almost €7million in funding has been provided to progress three major greenway projects in Cavan and Monaghan in 2020. Speaking on the matter, Minister Humphreys said: “I was delighted to receive confirmation today from my colleague, Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan that Waterways Ireland have given the green light for a spend of almost €7million in funding for three hugely important greenway projects as part of their 2020 Programme of Works.

“The three projects which will progress in 2020 include: Ballyconnell to Bellaheady Bridge Recreational trail – A 5.5km recreational trail from Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan to Bellaheady Bridge, Co. Cavan primarily along the banks of the Shannon-Erne Waterway Belturbet to Lock 1 Corraquill Recreational Trail – A 6km recreational trail from…
