COUNCILLOR CONNOLLY CALLS ON TDS TO MAKE ELEVENTH-HOUR BID TO SAVE CUISLE FACILITY

Independent local public representative Paudge Connolly has called on TDs and Senators to make an eleventh-hour bid to save the Cuisle accessible respite resort in Co Roscommon – which is utilised by a number of families in North Monaghan – from closure. “Even at this point, I would appeal to our national politicians to get the finger out,” Councillor Connolly stated at Monday’s meeting of the Monaghan Municipal District. “If you do an analysis of this service, you will see that it is a class apart.”

In response to a motion moved by Councillor Connolly at the November Municipal District meeting, the following correspondence from Irish Wheelchair Association Chief Executive Rosemary Keogh was sent: “Thank you for your letter received November 28 2019 regarding the decision made by the board of the Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) regarding the Cuisle facility. “As explained by the IWA at the Health Committee of the Oireachtas on November 21 last, the decision to close the Cuisle facility has not come easily.
