A decision by the National Ambulance Service office of the HSE to discontinue the use of the Rapid Response Vehicle has been slammed this week in statements from Sinn Féin and the Monaghan Hospital Community Alliance. Independent Presidential Candidate Mary Davis will visit Monaghan this Friday October 14th as part of her nationwide election campaign. She will begin by visiting Carrickmacross before going to Castleblayney and finishing in Monaghan town.  With just two weeks until polling day, Mary Davis is scheduled to canvass in Carrickmacross from 12.30pm. On Monday morning last when Hollands opened their Merchant’s Yard at Main Street, Emyvale, they discovered a large cygnet (young swan) standing there. It seemed to be unwell and hissed a warning when anyone tried to go near.  Various types of food were offered but it refused to eat. The authorities were notified but it was difficult to ascertain who exactly would take responsibility for the rescue of the Cygnet.
