A call was made at Monday’s meeting of Monaghan Co Council for measures to be taken to reduce the recurrence of serious road traffic accidents on a stretch of the N2 in the county. Monaghan, and elsewhere in the country, are very cautious as they enter 2017, according to a report presented by the Small Firms’ Association (SFA) earlier this week. It stated that domestic economic growth offers the biggest opportunities while wage inflation and Brexit are the most serious risks . A contract had now been awarded by Irish Water for the carrying out of major rehabilitation works to the water mains in Monaghan Town, Monaghan Co Council’s Head of Finance John Murray told Monday’s meeting of the Monaghan Municipal District.
