RED LETTER DAY FOR IRELAND’S LONGEST-SERVING POSTMASTER

It was a red letter day for Latton Postmaster Michael McElroy when Irish Postmasters Union Vice-President Ciaran McEntee arrived at his premises to honour his distinguished record of service. Michael took over duties at Latton Post Office in 1956 and is now the longest-serving postmaster in Ireland with 66 years at the helm. The Do Not Consume notice that had been in place for the public water supply in Cootehill has now been lifted. Irish Water said the notice was issued to protect approximately 2,190 customers following elevated levels of manganese in the water supply.
