RED LETTER DAY FOR IRELAND’S LONGEST-SERVING POSTMASTER
It was a red letter day for Latton Postmaster Michael McElroy when Irish Postmasters Union Vice-President Ciaran McEntee arrived at his premises to honour his distinguished record of service. Michael took over duties at Latton Post Office in 1956 and is now the longest-serving postmaster in Ireland with 66 years at the helm. The achievement was hailed at the recent Centenary Conference of the Irish Postmasters Union and Mr McEntee, from Threemilehouse, was detailed to present Michael with a statue of Cú Chulainn in recognition of his exemplary service.
