Michael Fisher A nursing home in Ballybay has been found by the Health Information and Quality Authority to be moderately non- compliant in four areas of care. The aim of the unannounced inspection in March at St Anne’s Nursing Home by monitors from HIQA was to look at dementia care. The nursing home’s self- assessment said it demonstrated compliance in four areas, and was substantially compliant in two other areas. PARTS OF CRASHED US WWII PLANE RECOVERED NEAR CASTLEBLAYNEY
Michael Fisher A team of archaeologists working with school students from Ballybay and Derry have recovered parts from a US Air Force P-38 Lightning aircraft that crashed near Castleblayney during the Second World war. The items removed from the site at Creighanroe close to Annyalla and the border with Co. Armagh will eventually go on display at Monaghan County Museum, which has been a partner in the project. Michael Fisher It was another major occasion for the diocese of Clogher and its new Bishop on Sunday, when Deacon Kevin Connolly from Glaslough was ordained a priest at St Macartan’s Cathedral in Monaghan. THE first ever Children and Young People’s Plans for Cavan and for Monaghan were launched in Cootehill’s Errigal Hotel on Friday morning last, and over the next three years they will seek to have all the relevant services agencies working on behalf of youth to interact in a more coordinated way to deliver various actions that are aimed at “improving outcomes” for younger people. MONAGHAN’S FITTEST COMPANY 2019
On Saturday June 29th the first ever Monaghan’s Fittest Company Event took place in Rossmore Park. This was hosted and organised by Silver Hill Farm in association with Glaslough Harriers. Over 40 teams from various local companies registered for the race, an amazing uptake for an event in its first year, with all proceeds going to Errigal Truagh Special Needs.
