COUNCILLOR URGES A NEED FOR SUBMISSIONS TO BE MADE ON LOCAL PROPERTY TAX

A South Monaghan councillor has highlighted a need this week for residents throughout the county to make submissions before the end of this month to Monaghan County Council in relation to the levels of their local Property Tax Cllr. Colm Carthy said during the week that each year, Monaghan County Council seeks submissions from the public on the Local Adjustment Factor for Property Tax in the County.

These submissions need to be made in writing and need to be sent, by email to lpt@monaghancoco.ie or by post to LPT Submissions, Monaghan County Council, The Glen, Monaghan Town. Councillor Colm Carthy has urged all those with an opinion on the matter to submit it to the council before 26th July. He said yesterday: ‘Each year, councilors get to decide whether to keep the LPT at its base level or increase/decrease it by up to 15%. It is a contentious issue because it pits councilors against each other to vote a certain way.
