Gardaí in Carrickmacross have confirmed that Patrick Browne, from Corgrea, Shercock was the sole occupant of a single vehicle when it was involved in a fatal collision at Lurgans on the Shercock/Carrickmacross Road on Saturday night/Sunday morning. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) this week announced the appointment of Carrickmacross man Noel Curran as its new Director General. Mr Curran will succeed Ingrid Deltenre in the role and is expected to take up the position at the beginning of September. By Patsy McArdle ANGRY residents in Carrickmacross have expressed outrage after prized nursery growth allotments were targeted and extensively damaged in what was described as a blatant weekend attack by vandals. The well-preserved allotments at Cloughvalley, which were created over five-and-a-half years ago, had floral pallets, fencing smashed and shrubs torn out. Some small trees were also broken during the late-night bout of wanton destruction.
