ULSTER BANK TO REPLACE FULL-TIME SERVICE WITH HALF-DAY MOBILE BANK

Ulster Bank remains at the top of the agenda for Carrickmacross/Castleblayney Municipal District’s (MD) meetings and at last week’s, Cllr. Noel Keelan expressed his disbelief that the MD had received a response from the bank, after they sent several requests for meetings and further information on the closure of the protected Main Street building on Main Street, Carrickmacross, that had previously been ignored.

District Co-ordinator Gareth McMahon stated that he had met with representatives from Ulster Bank recently and had raised members’ concerns about staffing and was told that redundancies would be sought on a voluntary basis. The bank’s proposal, Mr. McMahon explained, was that Carrickmacross, Castleblayney and Ballybay be serviced with a mobile bank for a half day a week, (when the full-time service was being withdrawn from Carrick and had already been from Castleblayney).
