By Veronica Corr The Tydavnet Parish Show committee have confirmed that the 61st show, scheduled for August 18th will go ahead, but will be scaled down. The decision was taken due to field conditions being less than ideal for livestock classes, given the recent spell of wet weather. In fact, July was the wettest and coldest on record. History was made at Saturday’s 60th Tydavnet Parish Show when the same show cow won the overall Choice of Champions Senior Champion of the Show for the third consecutive year. The eight year old cow — “Ternbridge Ruth 38” owned by David and Kenny Boyd and Denis O’Neill, was a clear winner with the judge Paul Flanagan and spectators alike. Get your hair done for the radio! The Knockatallon Ramblers along with the support of other network groups will welcome RTE for a walking extravaganza at Sliabh Beagh on May 7th. The event will be broadcast on RTE’s ‘The John Murray Show’. Walkers from clubs north of the border will meet up in the bog at the Three County Hollow where the counties of Tyrone, Monaghan and Fermanagh converge. The Knockatallon Ramblers will host its annual Boots n Bogs walking festival next week. Based in the scenic Sliabh Beagh area, the club invites walkers from neighbouring clubs and anyone who enjoys walking in the countryside to come along on Sat 9th and Sun 10th April at 11.30am. Tydavnet man wins video games “OSCAR” in Los Angeles
A Monaghan man has achieved international recognition in the computer games world for developing the most fun and compelling video game. Terry Cavanagh (above) from Tullyvogey in Tydavnet picked up the prize at a festival in Los Angeles for independent games creators. The 26 year-old Maths graduate from Trinity College Dublin launched the game called VVVVVV earlier this year through his own company distractionware.com.
