The Monaghan Town Team business organisation has been recognised as a model of European good practice for the work it has done in the field of urban revitalisation. The URBACT Good Practice Award was formally presented in Tallinn, Estonia last weekend to Monaghan Town Centre Coordinator Trevor Connolly and Máire Cullinan from Monaghan Co Council’s Economic Development and Urban Regeneration section. Combilift, the Monaghan-based manufacturer of multidirectional forklifts has signed a contract with Paves Asia Pacific PTE Ltd to launch its ‘straddle carrier’ product in Asia. NORTH MONAGHAN IN MOURNING AFTER TRAGIC WORKPLACE ACCIDENT

The entire North Monaghan community was plunged into mourning this week after the death of a well-known local man in a tragic workplace accident. Gary Askin, aged 28, of Cornacrieve, Emyvale died at the Cornacrieve Mushrooms processing plant on Wednesday last, September 13. Emergency services were called to the plant shortly after 8 pm to attend to three men suffering breathing difficulties, Gardaí stated.
