250,000 NORWEGIANS TUNE IN TO MONAGHAN

Over 250,000 Norwegian TV viewers will tune in to images of Co Monaghan this autumn on one of the country’s top travel shows, Glefs.  Tourism Ireland in the Nordic region invited the Norwegian TV crew to come and film at various locations around the island of Ireland this week – including at Castle Leslie in Glaslough.  The footage will result in a 12-minute episode which will air on ten local TV channels around Norway at the end of this month.  Aoife Kernan, Tourism Ireland’s manager in the Nordic region, said: “This is a really effective ...

Six-year old Glaslough boy refused vital diabetes pump by Monaghan HSE office

By Michael McDonnell michael@northern-standard.ie The distraught mother of a six-year-old Monaghan boy who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in February of last year contacted the Northern Standard this week to highlight the difficulty she is experiencing in securing a crucial insulin pump for her child’s ongoing treatment. Caroline McKenna, who lives at Rossarell, Glaslough, said her son Daithi had been in hospital eight times over the last year.
