The body of a 70-year-old Co Tyrone man was found during a search operation in Glaslough on Monday last. It is understood that 70-year-old Ivan Vaughan, a well-known music performer from the Caledon area, was returning home from a weekend engagement in Glaslough when his car encountered heavy flooding on a minor road and became stranded. Mr Vaughan’s body was recovered approximately ten metres from his vehicle at around 11.25 am on Monday in the Corraghdown area. On Sunday in national tidy towns award winning Glaslough Village the Glaslough Harriers and Mc Aree family hosted the second Duathlon in honour of their son Kieran Mc Aree. Eighty athletes took part with a start in the 2.5k run in the village ,a circuit of 21k in a loop past the Villa grounds and on to N2 and back via Armagh road to the village to take their second 2.5k run. There was great excitement in the village of Glaslough on Saturday evening last as huge crowds came out to celebrate a special event which marked fifty years of Glaslough’s participation in the National Tidy Towns Competition. The evening commenced with the unveiling of a plaque in the Diamond to celebrate this historic milestone.
