The Irish Hospital Consultants Association (IHCA) has warned that the ongoing shortage of consultants across many specialities in the north-east is restricting patients from accessing timely, highquality medical and surgical care and is “contributing massively” to growing waiting lists. The Department of Agriculture yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon confirmed a third outbreak of Avian Influenza H5N1 in commercial poultry in Co Monaghan. The latest bird flu outbreak was detected in an egg-laying flock in the Castleblayney area.
