Well-known Ballybay lady Kathleen O’Daly celebrated her 100th birthday on Tuesday. She is pictured with some of the staff of St Joseph’s Nursing Home in Ballybay being presented with the letter and cheque from President Michael D Higgins that is the honour bestowed on all Irish centenarians. The body of a Polish man in his late 30s was found at the Peter’s Lake park in Monaghan Town on Thursday morning last. Garda said that they were not treating the death of the man, who was named as Krzysztof Ciesielski, as suspicious. Members of the local Polish community placed floral and other tributes at the park after news of Mr Ciesielski’s death became known.
