Councillor Coyle demands Co Council statement

A call was made at Monday’s meeting of Monaghan Co Council for a public statement to be made by the local authority regarding the poor quality of the domestic water supply in Ballybay Town and surrounding areas. Fianna Fáil representative Seamus Coyle secured a commitment from the Council executive in relation to the statement, but expressed anger and frustration when Cathaoirleach David Maxwell curbed a contribution he attempted to make on the issue.

Councillor Coyle sought to raise the matter by reference to the water services section of the monthly management report circulated at the meeting. Producing photographs to illustrate his points, he said he wanted to raise the quality of water coming out of Kilkitt to Ballybay and the surrounding area at the present time. “As part of our agreement with Irish Water, we are delivering water of this quality,” he complained, referring to the…
