An innovative training programme offered by Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) at Monaghan Institute has resulted in 100% employment for all the students who completed it. All those who successfully completed the OEM in Engineering Traineeship were offered full-time employment with Combilift when they finished the course in June and future trainees have been told that there are many more jobs out there. Three vehicles were involved in the collision at Aclint Bridge between Ardee and Carrickmacross. Three Donegal women, Margaret McGonagle, her daughter Mairead Mundy and her friend Racheal Battles, were all killed. Two others were also seriously injured.
