TD SAYS HE WILL NOT PAY TWICE FOR WATER

Cavan Monaghan TD Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin has said he will not pay the new water charges. The Sinn Fein spokesperson on Health told the Dáil Chamber on last Wednesday evening “he had not registered and will not pay twice for water”. Deputy Ó Caoláin also urged people and leaders in particular “to take a stand on this most fundamental issue”. GARDA QUIZZED AFTER N2 COLLISION

THE Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission is investigating the circumstances surrounding a crash near Monaghan town at the weekend which involved three vehicles, including a garda car, and left three people hospitalised. The crash occurred on the main Dublin/Derry N2 between Monaghan town and Castleblayney, at   Moyles, Castleshane, when, it was reported, a garda vehicle had pulled over to assist a car which had broken down, and was hit by another car. Minister Heather Humphries visited Beech Hill College this week following the recent announcement of €220k funding for the refurbishment of Construction Studies Rooms at the College. Minister Humphries was given an outline of the proposed works by Woodwork Teachers, Mr. McStravog and Mr. O’Shea, who discussed with her the importance of quality installation and equipment. Róisín Dick from Monaghan has been selected from amongst hundreds of youth volunteers from across the island of Ireland to receive an award in recognition of the exemplary work she carries out in her local community at the 2015 Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards.
