1,263 APPLICATIONS ON COUNTY MONAGHAN HOUSING WAITING LISTS

There was a total of 1,263 applications on the housing waiting lists in Co Monaghan, the June meeting of Monaghan Co Council was informed. The statistic and its breakdown were furnished in response to a question from Sinn Féin’s Colm Carthy. It was stated that there were 494 applications in the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney Municipal District, including 212 applications for the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) and the Rental Accommodation Scheme (RAS). Sinn Féin councillor Cathy Bennett urged at the June meeting of the Monaghan Municipal District that the possibility of funding under the CLÁR programme for development projects in the Sliabh Beagh area be explored. CLÁR (Ceantair Laga Árd- Riachtanais) is a Government investment programme to aid small-scale infrastructure projects in disadvantaged rural areas.
