There was a total of 1,263 applications on the housing waiting lists in Co Monaghan, the June meeting of Monaghan Co Council was informed. The statistic and its breakdown were furnished in response to a question from Sinn Féin’s Colm Carthy. It was stated that there were 494 applications in the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney Municipal District, including 212 applications for the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) and the Rental Accommodation Scheme (RAS).

There were 239 applications for one-bed accommodation, 137 for two-bed, 88 for three-bed, 20 for four-bed and ten for five-bed. Applications in the Ballybay-Clones Municipal District area were 196 (including 88 HAP/RAS).

There were 98 applications for one-bed accommodation, 48 for two-bed, 37 for three-bed, 12 for four-bed and one for five-bed. 573 applications arose in the Monaghan Municipal District (including 324 HAP/RAS).
