Ardaghey film-maker Colin Peppard has won an award at Argentina’s Desert Light Film Festival for a short film made during the Covid-19 restrictions. Colin directed and starred in So Say All Of US, which tells the story of a man struggling to cope with the experience of extended lockdown. The recent Ardaghey 6k fun/run /walk, family challenge and vintage fashion event raised €5,577.37 for The Holy Family School, Cootehill. The cheque presentation was made last Wednesday evening to teacher Edel Cunningham and the amount raised far surpassed the expectations of event organisers. Deep gratitude is expressed to everyone who came out and supported the event and to those who worked so hard with preparations of course and centre, catering, stewarding, entertaining, and modelling. The repair of a roadway at Dunaldron in the Ardaghey area is being complicated by the presence of a sett of badgers, it emerged at Monday’s meeting of the Monaghan Municipal District. A question on the agenda submitted by Cathaoirleach Sean Conlon referred to an accumulation of potholes on a recently tarred stretch of road at Dunaldron, and enquired what progress had been made to date regarding plans to repair “this crater-like surface”. There were sunburnt noses and sore butts on Monday morning all around Ardaghey following the Family Fun Bike Event on Sunday afternoon 19th June. The sun blazed out through the clouds and set the cyclists off in good humour to take on the 4mile circuit (advertised as 4km for badness). Over 40 cyclists registered for the event and geared up with fluorescent gear and shiny helmets and garish cycling shorts.
