PESTICIDES DETECTED IN DRINKING WATER SUPPLIES IN MONAGHAN FOR SECOND MONTH IN A ROW
The pesticide MCPA has been detected at levels above the permitted amount in the public drinking water supplies in Glaslough and Emyvale, Co Monaghan for the second time in two months, Irish Water said this week. It was stated in an Irish Water media release: MCPA is a commonly used herbicide present in many products used to control thistles, docks and rushes. ARRESTS IN AUGHNACLOY AFTER CROSS-BORDER POLICE CO-OPERATION
Michael Fisher Three men were arrested on Sunday by police in the North after a car was stopped by two PSNI Sergeants who spread a ‘stinger’ device across the road outside Aughnacloy in Co.Tyrone. Monaghan members of a 3D printing group have undertaken an initiative to produce face shields for healthcare workers to use during the current Covid-19 emergency. The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is calling for more investment in cycling infrastructure, greater roll out of 30km/h limits in urban areas and for motorists to reduce their speed in response to new research published on trends in cyclist injuries on Irish roads. The RSA analysis looked at the leading causes of cyclist injuries from 2006-2018 and shows that cycling injuries increased from 211 in 2006 to 1,056 in 2018.
