Delegates at this year’s GAA Congress have backed a Tyrone County Board motion calling for the Garda report into the killing of Aidan McAnespie by a British soldier at Aughnacloy 31 years ago to be released to his family. The 23-year-old was shot dead after passing through a security checkpoint close to the border as he made his way to Aghaloo GAA grounds on February 21st 1988. Peter Hughes The members of the Monaghan Municipal District gave approval on Monday to substantial financial contributions in support of the development of the Rossmore Forest Park amenity in Monaghan Town and the bio-economy research centre project to be developed at Knockaconny.
