LACPATRICK DAIRIES TO MERGE WITH LAKELAND FOLLOWING SHAREHOLDER VOTE

Shareholders of LacPatrick Dairies (formerly Town of Monaghan Co-Op and Ballyrashane) and Lakeland Dairies (incorporating Lough Egish) have voted overwhelmingly in favour of the merger of both dairy processing businesses. LacPatrick shareholders from both sides of the border met in Cookstown, Co. Tyrone while a separate special general meeting for Lakeland suppliers was held in Cavan. A delegation from the Border Communities Against Brexit campaign group this week travelled to Strasbourg to meet with MEPs from across Ireland, the UK and the EU. Heather Humphreys, Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation and Fine Gael TD for Cavan Monaghan, has said that LGBTI+ organisations in Monaghan and Cavan are to benefit from €4,800 in funding. The funding, which has been allocated under the grant scheme for LGBTI+ Capacity Building, has been announced following the launch of the Government’s LGBTI+ National Youth Strategy 2018-2020 in June 2018. Young children from rural areas in Co Monaghan are set to benefit from a new £1.2 million cross-Border project that will place respecting difference at the heart of learning with the use of puppets and cartoon messages. The Rural Respecting Difference Programme, recently launched in Emyvale, Co Monaghan, is supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
