‘WE ARE CLONES’ EXHIBITION
Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Heather Humphreys was in Clones library on Monday evening to officially open the ‘We Are Clones’ exhibition, which received funding from her Department. Paintings of various buildings and areas around the town were painted by ten local amateur artists over four weeks and will be on display until next week. ‘COURT SITTING’ TAKES ON WHOLE NEW MEANING IN CLONES!
By Cianna McNally Anybody attending an event in the former Clones courthouse building can now literally rest assured they will be sitting in both style and comfort as retractable tiered seating is now in place in the venue. Gardai investigating an incident in which a people carrier in which a ten-year-old child had been sitting as a passenger was unlawfully taken from the town centre of Clones last Saturday evening brought a 34-year-old man before a special sitting of the District Court in Cavan Town on Sunday. A charge against Patrick Graham junior, of Creeney Cottages, Belturbet, Co Cavan alleges that he unlawfully took a vehicle from The Diamond, Clones on July 30 last. The third Cassandra Hand Rose Competition took place in the Creighton Hotel Clones on Saturday, the 11th of June. Alana McDonald emerged as the winning rose. Thirteen amazing young women from Clones town and the surrounding area took part in what turned out to be a very busy programme of events.
