TEN PIN BOWLING: The Ulster Area South Ten Pin Bowling competition was held in the GR8 Castleblayney on Friday last 19th February in which 97 athletes took part. The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Heather Humphreys officially opened the competitions and our own Athlete Padraig Kelly read the Special Olympic Oath. 37 athletes from Monaghan Special Olympics Club competed in both singles and doubles competitions taking home 14 gold, 10 silver, 11 bronze and 38 ribbons. MINISTER WELCOMES MORE THAN €1M IN FUNDING FOR PUBLIC NURSING HOMES IN MONAGHAN AND CAVAN
The announcement of more than €1 million in government funding for refurbishment works at three nursing homes in Cavan and Monaghan has been welcomed by Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Heather Humphreys. In Monaghan, €750,000 will be spent on refurbishment works at Oriel House, while St Mary’s Hospital in Castleblayney will receive more than €200,000 in investment. In Cavan, the Lisdarn Unit for the Elderly will receive €100,000 for refurbishment works. The works will be carried out over this year and next year.
