‘SCANDAL’ OF BLAYNEY COURTHOUSE… DEPUTY CONLAN CALLS ON MINISTER FOR ‘EMERGENCY’ FUNDING

WHAT has been termed locally as the “scandal of the deterioration of Castleblayney Courthouse and town landmark Market House building” re-surfaced, this week, with a strong call yesterday (Wed) by local Fine Gael TD Sean Conlan to the Minister for Arts Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD to “provide immediate emergency funding” the restoration of the building.

Deputy Conlan stated that the Market House in Castleblayney was abandoned for too long and, he said, : “It is not good enough that while we have a Minister with responsibility for built heritage in the county that this building, time and time again, has been passed over with regard to funding”.

He stated the Market House in Castleblayney has been abandoned entirely for years while sheds on the outskirts of the town are being built at a cost of millions to the taxpayer and used for public services.
