MONEY FROM AMERICA! – IRISH YANK FOUNDATION HELPS NORTH MONAGHAN SPECIAL NEEDS CAUSE

The old phrase “money from America” to describe the beneficence of Irish emigrants towards their home place had a modern manifestation at the annual New Year’s Day Run in Emyvale organised by Glaslough Harriers AC. This year’s 10k and 5k walk and run saw a link forged with the Irish Yank Foundation in order to generate funds for Errigal Truagh Special Needs. Our photograph by Rory Geary shows foundation founder and former Truagh and Monaghan footballer Daniel Yankee McKenna presenting a cheque for €20,000 to Special Needs Group representative Bernie McKenna. The cheque represents proceeds of various fund-raisers and events that the charity foundation has organised in Emyvale, New York and other locations throughout the world. Also pictured is Glaslough Harriers AC Chairperson David McQuaid.
