Gardai in Monaghan recorded a significant success in their efforts to thwart the supply of illegal drugs when cannabis plants worth about €40,000 were found at a property in the Glaslough area on Friday last.

The illicit substance was being cultivated in a specially adapted garage on the property of a house in the area, after a search warrant had been obtained as part of an ongoing operation, Superintendent Noel Cunningham told the Northern Standard.

One man of Irish nationality was arrested following the seizure, and is expected to appear at Monaghan District Court on 4th March on charges relating to cultivating the plants.
