Car enthusiast, Jim Joe McCarra arriving in his vintage Ford at Tydavnet Show on Saturday last. The 68th running of the event attracted record entries and many visitors to the North Monaghan area for what proved to be a very successful day for all concerned. €30,000 funding for the 2019 Cavan/Monaghan Science Festival was announced by Business Minister Heather Humphreys when she performed the national launch of Science Week at the Market House in Monaghan Town on Tuesday. EIRGRID MOVES TO PROGRESS ELECTRICITY INTERCONNECTOR IN ABSENCE OF NI EXECUTIVE

Michael Fisher Construction of EirGrid’s North South interconnector will begin in Northern Ireland in 2021 if approved and will be completed within three years by 2023, according to the electricity grid operator’s northern subsidiary, SONI. The target dates are contained in a document submitted last month to the Stormont Department for Infrastructure. This corresponds with the date reported exactly a year ago by The Northern Standard, “Completion of interconnector in 2023” (August 16th 2018 p.14).
