FORMER Clones-based solicitor Paul Madden has been sent forward for trial after pleading guilty to 16 charges of stealing money from clients’ accounts. At this week’s sitting of Monaghan District Court, 50-year-old Mr Madden, of The Diamond, Clones, pleaded guilty to the offences, which took place at his former business premises, Paul Madden & Co, Fitzpatrick Square, Clones on various dates between October 2006 and September 2013. JOSEPHINE IS DRIVING IN STYLE!

A delighted Josephine Kelly, from Clonkeenlucas, Clones is pictured collecting her new car, a Renault Captur, from Blackstone Motors, Drogheda on Monday past. Josephine won the car, worth €19,500, in a phone-in competition on The Late Late Show last December. She also won a cash prize of €10,000.

A former Clones solicitor came before Monaghan District Court on Monday on 16 charges relating to offences under the Criminal Justice Theft and Fraud Offences Act. Forty-nine-year-old Paul Madden, The Diamond, Clones was remanded until the February 1 sittings of the court for further mention of his case. Detective Garda Sergeant Sean G McClafferty told the court that it was estimated that it would take four weeks for service of the Book of Evidence in the matter.
