NEW ALZHEIMER’S CARE FACILITY WILL BE “TRANSFORMATIVE” FOR MONAGHAN AND WIDER REGION

Monaghan Co Council on Monday gave formal approval to the disposal of 0.31 hectares of land at Roosky in Monaghan Town to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. The decision paves the way for the development by the society of a new care facility at the site, which was described at the meeting as having the potential to be a transformative resource for Alzheime’sr sufferers and their families in the North Monaghan and wider region. Director of Services Cathal Flynn told the meeting that the site was being provided for the discounted consideration of €18,440.35, and on condition that the land must be used for the construction of an Alzheimer’s unit. Sinn Féin’s Séan Conlon said this project had been on the agenda for a number of months.
