SUNFLOWER FESTIVAL IN SCOTSHOUSE STILL IN FULL BLOOM

The Northern Standard paid a visit to St. Andrew’s Sunflower Meadow (H23 W226) in Scotshouse last Thursday evening when it opened to the public and while there, this reporter had a quick chat with one of the organisers Angela Graham, who is a woman of many talents. The community activist was asked how St. Andrew’s Sunflower Meadow came about. Angela began: “Ian Jordan, one of our committee members, came up with the idea in the spring … influenced by the Wallace family of Castleshane, they did a wonderful sunflower field last year and raised so much money for charity … we thought, if we could do something similar here, wouldn’t that be wonderful? “We knew there was a lot of risks involved. The Church has a beautiful field here beside the Rectory and the Church in the village. It’s a perfect location,” she explained, and this reporter had to agree that the setting was simply…
