CATHERINE FLOOD RETURNS FROM THE STATES TO RUN SOLO MARATHON FOR ERRIGAL TRUAGH SPECIAL NEEDS

Catherine Flood, who hails from the locality will return from New York this weekend to run her 20th marathon for Errigal Truagh Special Needs on Sunday, 22nd of June. This will be a solo run, although supporters may join her for some of it. Catherine’s run is dedicated to her sister Eileen and her friends in the aforementioned service. Although she loves America, Catherine never forgot where she came from, and she looks forward to rediscovering the beauty of the local countryside of the parish she is a native of. Catherine will be accompanied for some of the journey by friends. She plans to start running at 7.30am and reach The Village Brew coffee dock, Carrickroe at 10.30am, Emyvale at 11.30am, Emy Lough for 11.40am, St. Mellan’s for 11.55am and to cross the finish line at approximately 12 noon at the Errigal Truagh Special Needs Centre, Knockconan, Emyvale H18 PEO4, the organisation she is fundraising for.

Everyone is welcome to come out, cheer her on, and join her for a cuppa afterwards at an ‘open house’ at the centre from 12 noon to 2pm. The amateur athlete, who runs an events company and is also a Project Children volunteer, commented: “I am excited to run 26.2miles around the hills of my local parish in Co. Monaghan in honour of my beautiful sister Eileen, and her friends. I’m running to raise funds for the Errigal Truagh Special Needs Centre, a place that has truly transformed her life, and the lives of many others. “Errigal Truagh Special Needs Centre wants to expand their purpose-built centre to accommodate more adults with intellectual disabilities and autism.
