SHOCK AND GRIEF FOLLOWING DEATH OF YOUNG MAGHERACLOONE MAN IN PORTUGAL
Deep shock and sadness in the Magheracloone and wider area of Co Monaghan have ensued following news of the death of a young local man in an apparent swimming tragedy while holidaying in Portugal . Dylan McCahey, in his early 20s, from Tonaneave, Magheracloone, was on a short holiday break on the Portuguese west coast when the tragic incident occurred on Saturday. The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed in a statement that they had been made aware of the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and were providing consular assistance to the family. Mr McCahey worked in Magheracloone Service Station and was a former pupil of Ballynagearn National School. He had graduated in biomedical science. He is survived by parents P J and Geraldine; brother Alan and sister Caitlin (Colin), grannies Bridget McCahey and Teresa McPhillips, wider family circle and many friends. Tributes have been paid to the young man across social media platforms. Funeral arrangements remained unconfirmed as we went to press.
