HOMEGROWN ‘VIDEO NASTY’ SERIES HITS TV SCREENS THIS WEEK

Video Nasty is a comedy drama series produced by self-confessed “proud Tydavnet woman” Ailish McElmeel, co-founder of Dublin-based Deadpan Pictures, which last year celebrated its 10th birthday. Series one of the three, debuted on BBC One NI last night (Wednesday) and will air on BBC Three tonight, Thursday from 10pm with a the first two episodes. Virgin Media One will air one episode per week, starting on Monday, January 20th at 9pm. In line with the digital first approach, all six half- hour episodes will be on BBC One, BBC Three and Virgin Media One’s online viewing platforms.
County Monaghan’s stunning scenery and homegrown talent on both sides of the camera is showcased. Filming took place in April and May 2024 and provided a boost in excess of €1million to the local economy. Familiar faces will feature as well as familiar places: Glaslough, Glennan, Rossmore Park, Tully, Park Road, Castleshane, Emyvale, Castleblayney College and the stunning Tin Church in Laragh. Cast and crew also ventured across to Cootehill in Cavan and Caledon in Tyrone too! The Tydavnet-born producer believes in shopping local and if it could be sourced in Monaghan, it was, from extras on set, to vintage cars, saving both time and money because….
