OVER €4.5 MILLION IN PEACE PLUS FUNDING FOR COUNTY MONAGHAN
The Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) has awarded more than €4.5 million in funding to Monaghan Co Council under the PEACE PLUS Programme. Seven local authorities on both sides of the Border will benefit from a total of €37.4 million under the programme, with the funding targeted at projects “aimed at addressing local challenges and promoting peace and prosperity within each Council area”, in the words of the SEUPB. Other local authorities to benefit are Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council; Fermanagh and Omagh District Council; Louth Co Council; Mid Ulster District Council; Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, and Sligo Co Council.
This is the latest funding announcement under the Co-designed Local Community Action Plans investment area of the programme, which supports projects developed and delivered by local councils in collaboration with their local communities. Co Monaghan’s allocation was welcomed by Cavan/Monaghan Fine Gael TD and Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys. “I’m particularly delighted that Monaghan has received such a significant allocation for communities right across the county,” Minister Humphreys stated.
“Successive PEACE programmes have made a hugely positive impact in communities both sides of the Border.
