FAMILY WITH SCOTSTOWN CONNECTIONS TO BE HONOURED BY MONAGHAN SOCIETY NEW YORK

A Distinguished Service Award will be presented at the 111th Annual Dinner Dance of New York’s Monaghan Society tomorrow, Friday evening to a family with deep Scotstown connections. The McQuaid family have played important roles with the Monaghan Society in New York over the past 30 years. Anne Marie and Jim McQuaid are past presidents and have organised many events including the popular Monaghan Christmas party.

Annmarie was born in Flushing, New York. Her maternal grandparents now deceased were John McCarey, Barratitoppy and Mary Caulfield, Allghnamea, Scotstown. The McQuaids are from, Aghalissabeagh, Scotstown. Guest of honour at the function, which takes place in The Fairway Dunnwoodie, 1 Wasylenko Lane, Yonkers is popular committee member of New York’s Monaghan GAA Club Timmy Buckley originally from Annyalla, Cremartin and his wife Mary from Ladysbridge, Co Cork.
