THE PEACE LINK — THE FIRST TEN YEARS
By Veronica Corr
It was a busy news week and The Peace Link in Clones had its moment in the sun too, quite literally, as it’s official tenth anniversary of the sporting and community facility took place on Friday last, September 20th. Minister Heather Humphreys was the keynote speaker and she was joined by Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council Cathy Bennett and a host of public representatives from grassroots to Oireachtas level from both sides of the Border. Local Authority officials were also present, headed up by Chief Executive Robert Burns. The hardworking boards of management past and present were acknowledged as stakeholders took centre stage at the community celebration. There was a jovial tone to the morning’s proceedings, which was fitting for the facility’s tenth birthday bash. ‘Teamwork makes the dream work’ was definitely an adage that could be used to sum up the day, as unreserved thanks and tributes were paid to the management and staff, who were complimented on their unrivalled enthusiasm and pride in their workplace.
