SINN FÉIN LEADER SETS OUT GOVERNMENT AND UNITED IRELAND GOALS AT MONAGHAN TESTIMONIAL EVENT
PETER HUGHES “Brian McKenna has left us a legacy to guide us as we strive for a united Ireland,” declared Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald TD in Monaghan’s Four Seasons Hotel on Saturday evening at a testimonial event honouring the 33-year career as a local public representative of the Carrrickroe man who retired prior to June’s local government elections. Sinn Féin’s Deputy Dáil Leader and Finance Spokesperson Pearse Doherty joined the party leader and hundreds of national and local public representatives and activists to pay tribute to the contribution made by the former Councillor McKenna to the exponential growth of Sinn Féin as a political force over the span of his membership of Monaghan Co Council (see full report on the event inside this week’s edition).
The evening was also a celebration of Sinn Féin’s remarkable local election success which saw them take eight of the 18 seats available on the Monaghan local authority.
