THEY’RE GOING TO BE MAD ABOUT MONAGHAN IN MILWAUKEE SAYS LIZ!
Mad About Monaghan’s Liz McGuinness is bound for the Milwaukee Irish Festival later this month to bang the drum for Féile Oriel and Monaghan tourism at what is recognised as the biggest Irish cultural and music event outside the Emerald Isle itself. Liz, one of the prime movers behind the hugely successful Féile Oriel revival, has been working with Milwaukee festival director Barry Stapleton since early last year to forge a mutually beneficial link between the two events. “This is going to be a very important PR exercise,” Liz told the Northern Standard this week. “I have a deepseated belief that the USA is where we need to build our audience and participants for Féile Oriel 2025.
“I am also determined to promote Monaghan’s attractions as a tourist destination while I’m Stateside. I am deeply indebted to the ten Monaghan businesses who have given their full support to the Mad About Monaghan project which has allowed me to scale up MAM’s efforts to promote and propagate all that is good about our county into what I hope will be a major promotion in Milwaukee.” Liz plans a series of meetings with tour operators in the US to place Monaghan on their radar and wants to…
